Workshop for local artists, amateurs and professionals. Wednesday 11th February 2009 - Villa Irini, Symi Island, Greece
Fourteen people expressed interest in doing an art workshop to help motivate themselves during this unusually damp, uninspiring Symi winter. I designed work that could be adapted by the group to their own, individual needs. In itially we explored compositional ideas by demonstrations of The Golden Section and the Fibonacci Series in the natural environment. Secondly we questioned the context of perspective in art from other non-western cultures and from non-representational imagery. Lastly I demonstrated colour theory strategies as practised by various twentieth century masters before the group went on to practical picture making.
These three stages incorporated discussion, drama games and historical examples as well as a variety of practical drawing exercises.
